“Yer a Wizard, Art!”

Ok, so Art Weiss isn’t Harry Potter, and he’s also not really a wizard.  But his symbol this year as Worthy Grand Patron for the Order of Eastern Star WAS a wizard, so I couldn’t resist!  We were north for the Reception of the Worthy Grand Matron, SarahAnn Shapiro and our own Art Weiss, Worthy Grand Patron.  Art did a great job all year, representing the Masonic side of life in the OES!  We are so proud of him!

We flew up to San Jose, and met JLo and Becky there.  We had a small issue with the rental car(s).  As in, the first (and also maybe the second or third) was too small for all four of us and all of our luggage.  There are times when sitting on a bench, quietly, is a good thing to do while the issues are ironed out.  Once we got a vehicle that safely contained all of us along with our belongings, we were off and on our way to the Garden Airport Hotel!

The men and staff members generously treated us to lunch in the room where the ExecComm was meeting.  Afterward, we four girls got in the car (yes, the previously too small car) and we headed for downtown San Jose for an outing.  The skies opened up and I thought that we would all be found soggy and drowned, but we braved it and made it back to the hotel.  After one has a nice afternoon it’s always nicer yet to survive it!

We had (very) little time to dress and were were very glad that the rain held off long enough for us to navigate to the ballroom at the back of the property.

There were a LOT of people at this reception!  It was done very nicely, and we even got See’s candy afterward as favors.  Yum!  The nosh afterward was delicious, and it was really fun to see so many of our northern friends.
