Thank You for Your Service, Sailor!

One of the nicest couples we know are Kathy and Larry Cook, from Santa Barbara.  He’s the incoming master of Santa Barbara Lodge, and she’s a former Job’s Daughter from my era.  They have both been incredibly supportive of Russ and me in this journey.  The Masonic family is very important to them both, and they walk the walk in the best of ways.

We were pleased to join them both for a big night for Larry.  He received the Patriot of the Year Award and invited us to be present.  We learned more about Larry’s youth and military service.  We got to meet his family and really enjoyed them too.

There are times when the travel gets long and the nights get short in this Grand Lodge adventure, but they are more than outweighed by the gift of the wonderful friendships and the amazing learning opportunities we are afforded.  I’d eat rubber chicken every night of the week in exchange for meeting and learning to love people like Kathy and Larry!
