What Color is Your Jacket?

It was still the blazing heat of mid-Summer in San Fernando Valley as we cruised down to the San Fernando Masonic center for the annual “Four-Way Reception”.  This is a huge event, with lots and lots of folks in attendance, and it basically looks like a convention of Skittles executives!

The four orders associated with this are the Royal Arch, the Cryptic Masons, the Knights Templar and Grand Lodge.  The leaders this year were:  Most Worshipful John L. Cooper III, Grand Master; Most Excellent Jon D. Humphreys, Grand High Priest of Royal Arch Masons; Most Illustrious David L. Chesebro, Grand Master of Cryptic Masons; and
Sir Knight Carlos H. Gonzalez, Grand Commander of Knights Templar.

We had a lovely steak and salmon banquet, with music and appetizers, and then adjourned into the lodge room.  When I say it was hot, I mean..it was HOT.  Those poor men in their wool suits were miserable!  The lodge A/C was on, but with the weather that hot and muggy and that many people in attendance, it was a schvitz!

The presentation by the Director of Philanthropy at the Midnight Mission was very informative, and I’m sure a lot of folks learned something about The Midnight that they didn’t know before.  Then each of the four bodies being honored were given time for their respective leaders to speak, and gifts were presented.

It was great to see everybody, and especially to see Simon and Michelle McIllroy’s two sets of twin girls!  They are so cute!
