Aloha!

We vacation in Kona every spring break, and this year is was sorely overdue!  We rested and relaxed and read and slept, and on Wednesday night, we took the opportunity to attend the Kona Lodge stated meeting and dinner.

The lodge is in an industrial building, very cleverly arranged behind big roll-up doors.  Inside, there is a dining room, and beyond that a beautifully decorated lodge room.  The walls of the lodge are covered in local murals.   It’s a wonderful example of how the familiar (lodge rooms) can also be exotic and unique and beautiful.

The ante room was covered with a ceiling of glow in the dark stars!  There was also a skull, which of course Alissa decided she needed to bring home with her along with the sword.  She did not bring home either one.

The dinner was really friendly and nice and the hospitality was in the true Aloha spirit!  Everybody in Kona is “from” somewhere, and it was fun to hear their experiences.

During lodge, Russ sat with a brother who is planning to run for Jr Grand Warden in the fall.  They do things a little bit differently there!  He’s originally from the Bay Area, and we hope to see him at Grand Lodge one day.

Aloha, Kona!  We hope to be in your Masonic Center again, very soon!
